Disneyland in the Philippines

Fantasy World is medieval-themed park turned to photo-op park constructed more than a decade ago by a Japanese businessman, which is believed to have been “abandoned” due to low funding. It is situated along Diokno Highway in Lemery, Batangas and was built back in the year 2001. However, it started to gain the attention of curious travellers. These people love to see the beauty of the architecture and to brave the mystery that lies there.

Fantasy World from afar

If you are fond of fairy tales, stories of princes and princesses, the place might leave you in awe of the view upon the entrance where you are welcomed by 4 castle-like structures in a quadrangle.

Outside, you’ll see the towering spires of the castle having bright colors that could represent fun and liveliness, but once you go inside you’ll see that it was tainted with molds and paints were peeling off. This is a place where you will have a lot of questions. Why it was built and abandoned after a time or what it could have been if it was operating?

Even though this theme park never became fully operational, it’s beauty is still accessible for tourists as managed by the homeowners association. You can access it for just 1,000 pesos per 10 people, if you will access it alone you still need to pay it in full so in our case we paid 500 each since we’re just 2. It’s actually very affordable if you’re going with a large group with the help of trusted travel agencies.

Every spot in this park is amazingly Instagram worthy!

As expected, there was no something lively inside the park. No parades, no mascots and no something fun. The castle is empty in exception of one stall for food and water and a bunch of fellow visitors. I started to imagine what if it got finished. This could level with other theme parks in our country.

Want to get the best panoramic view of the Taal Lake and its surrounding mountains, a view that’ll make you feel like the ruler of the land? Well, you should get ready to climb the magical stairs because the park is located on top of a hill. There are no elevators here to help you with your lazy problems, but the good news is you can climb it based on your own pacing haha no pressure.

As you can see, there is a mini rollercoaster that resembles a dragon; a mini ferris wheel that consists of 8 colorful cabins. To the right, you will find a swing ride – imagine a smaller version of Enchanted Kingdom’s Flying Fiesta – also in different colors.

Conquer your fear of heights by crossing mystical hanging bridge

Aside from these, you will also find a maze garden and one of Fantasy World’s popular features, the treehouse. There are two treehouses connected by a hanging bridge. You don’t have to worry at all because the bridge is well-maintained, so it’s safe to cross.

Most visitors only come here just to see the structures up close, admire the view or take photos.

Get lost in the maze of life

A fully maintained hedge maze located at the side of the amusement rides is a perfect hide and seek spot for you and your friends. Just be sure you’ll know how to find your way out or not. Sometimes it’s fun to get lost especially in a place where fantasy is living strongly.

Fantasy or mystery, there is one way to appreciate Fantasy World — Simply, have fun! There’s not much to do in the park but it is a good place to have your photos taken. Choose between a fantasy or a post-apocalyptic land as your background and feel like a royalty or a survivor!

Here are my simple tips on if you’re planning to visit this place

  1. Eat before you visit because bringing of own food is not allowed since they already have a canteen which is a bit pricey, and the service isn’t good.
  2. Go in a group. The bigger the group, hence, the lesser the cost.
  3. Visit Fantasy World in the afternoon because the natural lighting during that time gives your photos a more eerie feel to them.

Whip out that smartphone and consult your new best friend, Waze.
However, the funny thing here is that even though we used Waze when we went here we got lost. So for me, sometimes don’t trust waze hahaha
