Kiltepan Peak: Sea of Clouds and Sunrise Viewing

If you’re familiar with the movie ‘That Thing Called Tadhana,’ then you probably know about the fantastic view of Kiltepan Viewpoint. This place is situated in Eastern Sagada and also known as Kiltepan Peak, being the highest point in the area which is bounded by various villages.

In fact, this is Sagada’s all-time-favorite to catch the sunrise and sea of clouds. Every weekend Sagada locals already expect a bunch of travelers from the city so make sure once you’re here, you must be on the perfect spot in taking photos.

These trees lining up around the site made an amazing view and the fog made it all enchanting

It was June 2018 when we visited Sagada. The climate is comfortably cold at night. Our group woke up at around 4:30 AM for our Kiltepan View trip. We all know that it’s really hard waking up that time since the cold breeze was really inviting for us to sleep hahaha. After preparing ourselves, we went out of our lodge and took a jeep going to Mt. Kiltepan and the fee is 50 php per pax. The road going to the place is smooth at first; however, the path becomes rough and bumpy as we reach the destination.

When we arrived, the place is already crowded and they’re gathered near the cliffs of Kiltepan View. The funny part that really entertained me here is to watch the smoke that came out of Kristian’s breath and other people every time they spoke.

Its rays extended above the sky painting it with hues of yellow and blue.

What makes the sunrise at Kiltepan worth seeing is the view of the golden sun as it rises behind the mountains of Cordillera and over the horizon of town sea of clouds, it is reminiscent of the same scene in the summit of Mt. Pulag.

That’s me! hahaha

When the sun finally showed up. I heard an applause from random tourists as the sun rose in glory.

Thank you for making me happy
The sun peeks like a curious god, saying hello to its creation.

The whole park is also surrounded by souvenir shops and eateries selling hot beverages or warm meals for an early breakfast treat.

This is kinda cute

Kristian and I also decided to have a short breakfast here. The warm porridge helped in jumpstarting my energy for the whole day.

If your loved one, family or friends are planning for a trip to Sagada this summer, then you must include Kiltepan View in your itinerary. Viewing the sunrise on one of the high peaks of Mountain Province is truly memorable and ecstatic. It’s even best view together with a cup of warm coffee and a love-one at your side. Visit Sagada and experience its beauty and wonders.
