Summer may be over, but with the diversity of tourist activities that await you in Region V, any time of the year is as good a time to head over to this adventure-filled wonderland. Last month, we are able to explore the province of Sorsogon.
Well, who wouldn’t be captivated by the beauty of Sorsogon? This small province will surely capture the heart of any wanderer with its simplicity, friendly people, and breathtaking natural beauty.
There is so much to see, explore, and experience in this place. Here are the top tourist attractions in Sorsogon to help you start planning a memorable trip:
LIST OF TOP TOURIST ATTRACTIONS IN SORSOGON:
Bulusan Lake
The Bulusuan Volcano Natural Park is situated in Sorsogon and is surrounded by the towns of Bulusan, Barcelona, Casiguran, Irosin, and Juban. You can explore the lake by renting a kayak or taking a boat ride. You can also borrow a life jacket. If there are any problems, the staff will assist you. Overall, it’s a fun experience and good arm exercise.
Donsol Whale Shark Interaction
Donsol is a perfect place for whale shark snorkeling. From November to May, plenty of whale sharks migrate to Donsol to feed on the area’s dense concentration of plankton and krill.
You will travel via boat to the bay, and a spotter will instruct you to jump in and then swim alongside the whale sharks as they approach the surface. You are lucky to get close to these whale sharks, which can grow four to twelve meters long in Donsol (though residents claim, of course, to have seen larger).
Buhatan River Cruise
Enjoy a relaxing bamboo raft experience via river cabanas. It’s comfy & lounging on the cushions while cruising down the river and listening to the birds. You’ll also witness the sunset here. Local treats are also served.
Zoe’s resort & eco-adventure park
For tourists who love adventure and tranquility, Zoe’s Resort and Eco Adventure Park got your back. It has three beautiful waterfalls hidden in its forest, and we were able to visit the two of them: Kambal Busay Falls and Hidden Falls.
You need to trek through the forest and up to these waterfalls. Your first stop is the Kambal Busay Falls, which you can reach by going down a hundred steps. You may rest and swim in its cool water, then hike through boulders and down Hidden Falls, where cool water cascades over rocks.4t
Subic Beach
Subic beach is a must-visit place in Sorsogon! In fact, this is one of my bucketlist since it’s one of the rare powdery pink sand beaches that has crystal clear water. If you want a vacation or looking for a place to social media detox, this place is for you.
Juag Lagoon Marine Sanctuary
Juag lagoon fish sanctuary is a nice side trip after visiting the Subic beach. It’s around 10 mins travel via boat. You can interact with various fishes in this sanctuary by feeding or snorkeling.
The Pili Haven
Not your ordinary farm experience at Pili Haven! Discover a unique farm cafe, bamboo bridge and instagrammable spots . You can also connect with nature by staying at one of their mini A-shaped cabins
Gibalon Shrine
It was believed that the first mass in Luzon was held here in the Gibalon shrine last 1569. A lot of people usually visit this place during Visita Iglesia.
St. Michael Archangel Irosin Parish Church
St. Michael Archangel Irosin Parish Church is hilltop church. It’s a good exercise going up since it has a total of 74 steps going to the top and once you’re there you’ll see the beauty of the church as well as the magnificent view of Mt. Bulusan
Casa Feliz
If you are looking for a place to stay in Juban, Casa Feliz has rooms that can be rent for overnight stay. The famous old houses of Juban were built during the Spanish period. They also arrange specific tour packages from nearby tourist attractions within Sorsogon provinces.
Museo Sorsogon
Sorsogon Museo is a doorway to the province’s historical landmarks, allowing Sorsoganons or tourists to walk through, experience, and emerge from Sorsogon’s history. This museum was once a provincial jail and was converted into a modern museum last 2019 because they noticed the potential of its 1900s architectural design and envisaged it as a historical and cultural center of the province.
