South Korea relaxes visa for Filipino tourists going to South Korea are expected to increase following the relaxed visa rules to be implemented by the South Korean government starting September 1, as announced by the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) Manila Office.

Under the new rules, Filipinos who have visited Korea at least once are now eligible for a one-year, multiple-entry tourist visa.
Those who have visited South Korea more than twice are eligible for a three-year multiple-entry visa. While visitors who previously held a three-year multiple-entry visa can now obtain a five-year visa.
Along with the Philippines, visa rules have also been relaxed for Chinese and other Southeast Asian nationals.
Meanwhile, KTO Manila Director Sangyong Zhu is positive that easing visa rules will quickly translate to more Filipino visitors to Korea.
This year, tourists from the Philippines alone increased by 61.5 percent in March, 8.5 percent in April, 12.1 percent in May, 47 percent in June, and 74.4 percent in July, compared to the same period in 2012.

From January to July, 2013, Korea welcomed more than 6.3 million visitors coming from all over the globe. Since opening its first satellite office in Manila in 2012, the KTO has been aggressively promoting tour packages, events, and incentive tours to South Korea.
