Korea National Foundation Day

October 3 marked as Korea’s National Foundation Day or Gaecheonjeol in Korean which is a public holiday in South Korea. During this day, the celebration of creation of the state of Gojoseon (ancient Korea) was founded by Dangun Wanggeom in the year 2333 BC. It is also commemorated in North Korea, although not as a public holiday, with an annual ceremony at the Mausoleum of Tangun. It is also the day which fills citizens with nationalistic pride over the 4,000+ year history of Korea.
