Sunday is the day of the week where people usually spend quality time with their loved ones. It is also that day of the week most people would love to slow down and relax. And if you have been following me and Kristian for quite some time already, you know that eating is one of our favorite thing to bond. Haha. In this dining experience, allow me to share with you one of the new establishment of Westgate Alabang, The Southbank Cafe & Lounge.

It is a Melbourne-inspired restaurant located at Central Plaza, Westgate Center, Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

As you enter, you are greeted by the jazzy sounds of coffee house music and a courteous waiter who leads you to comfort seats.

Aside from their food selection which is mainly Aussie-centric, it also offers various kind of alcoholic beverages.

We loved the intimate vibe Southbank has.

FOOD
A couple of drinks while waiting for our starters.

Breakfast
Among their breakfast items I’d say that hands down, their eggs benedict is one of the best I’ve ever had. To add a unique taste to their bennies, they added a sous-vide egg which worked well with the creamy hollandaise sauce. With so much good stuff on top, you could barely see the sourdough toast underneath.

English muffin, bbq pulled pork, sous-vide egg, hollandaise sauce

arugula, whipped ricotta, cherry tomatoes, candied walnuts, pesto dressing.

potato croquettes sous-vide egg roasted capsicum

smashed avocado, feta cheese, edamame, sous-vide egg, sourdough toast

Another breakfast item I would recommend is their version of the shakshuka, a tomato stew with baked eggs served on a hot iron skillet. This dish will definitely fire up your morning!
LUNCH

torched salmon, furikake, tobiko, multi-grain rice, sweet soy, dojunbang mayo
We also had a Salmon Aburi Bowl. It is made of torched salmon in multi-grain rice seasoned with sweet soy and dojunbang mayo. Also topped with furirake and tobiko

tiger prawn thermidor, mushroom, sundried tomato, parmigiano

We also tried their 36-hour pork belly bowl which composed of fried egg and huge pork belly cuts marinated in a sweet soy sauce. I guess this one is my favorites among the other dishes that we have tried. The dish comes off as tender, flavorful and juicy.

brioche bun, 100% pure beef patty, bacon jam, lettuce, tomato, truffle mayo, curly fries
A trip at Southbank is not complete without tasting their Southbank Burger. Made with 100% pure beef patty, bacon jam, lettuce, tomato, and brioche bun; served with curly fries and truffle mayo. It tasted really good and it will definitely fill up your hungry tummy.
BAR CHOWS

dressed with arugula, alfalfa, tomato, and various cheeses.
DESSERT

mixed berries, maple syrup, honeycomb, housemade seasonal sorbet

brioche toast, whipped ricotta, maple syrup, housemade butter

Each dish was picturesque with its spectacular plating. And I’m glad that each one was not made to be just Instagram worthy.

Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience even though I was able to indulge only on certain plates. I love how proactive the servers were and would refill your glass with water without having to ask for it. I would definitely drop by again for more Southbank Burger and 36 Hour Pork Belly Bowl. This is definitely the place to make your Manila friends drive all the way to Alabang.
